Limitations and risks

Native Windows is not supported for the bootstrap; use Linux, macOS, or WSL2. A community-contributed native-Windows guide exists.
Reverse-proxy basic auth can break installed PWA service-worker updates, leaving a blank screen after update.
Binding to 0.0.0.0 for remote access requires setting a password to avoid an unauthenticated web UI.

Getting started

Clone the repository (git clone https://github.com/nesquena/hermes-webui.git), run python3 bootstrap.py; the bootstrap auto-detects and auto-installs a missing Hermes Agent, starts the web server, waits for /health, and opens the browser. Complete the first-run onboarding wizard inside the WebUI to start chatting. Pre-built Docker images and a 5-minute compose quickstart are also available.
