figures4papers is a collection of the author's own Python scripts and a reusable figure-making skill for producing consistently styled, publication-quality scientific figures. It can be referenced in an AI coding agent prompt to guide creation or modification of plotting scripts.
Project overview
It packages publication-figure conventions, reusable patterns, tutorials, and real project examples into a path-based workflow that AI coding agents can follow, turning scattered plotting know-how into a repeatable skill.

Best for
Researchers and developers who want reusable conventions, patterns, and Python examples for producing consistently styled, publication-quality scientific figures.
Users of AI coding agents who want guided creation or modification of plotting scripts for their own data.
Key capabilities
Supplies a scientific figure-making skill with conventions for creating consistently styled, publication-quality figures.
Includes API conventions, common figure patterns, design principles, real-world demonstrations, and step-by-step tutorials.
Can be referenced in an AI coding agent prompt to guide creation or modification of plotting scripts for user-supplied data.
Provides project-specific scripts, outputs, and demo figures that can be consulted as implementation references.
The documented prompt workflow requests plotting scripts that export named PNG and PDF figure files.
Limitations and risks
Some miscellaneous included figures were made only partially in Python rather than end-to-end in Python, so not every example serves as a fully Python-based reference.
Getting started
Open the repository in an AI coding agent, ask the agent to create or update a plotting script in the target folder, tell the agent to follow the skill and design-theory files, then run the generated script and check the exported figure. The path-based workflow requires no installation, and optional symlink commands are provided for several coding agents.
